Today Jack heard the Sandhill Cranes. I hope to capture a photo of them soon. Their sound is so soothing and it is so wonderful that we can find them here in Texas as well as New Mexico. Here is a video so that you can hear their call.

Another visitor we have is the Black Swallowtail caterpillar. I discovered them this morning and they really do like the fennel. Glad I wasn't planning to cook with it.

The Gulf Muhly is really colorful at this time of year. Nothing can beat the sun coming through the purple seed heads.

A Day of Productive Sewing
It was a beautiful day in the hill country -- cool and sunny. Today, Carmen came to visit and we sewed all day long. I worked on a quilt using a Moda Texas panel and coordinating fabric. It was easily pieced in a day. Notice the mitered corners.
Carmen had a great day putting together old Dresden plate blocks for a client. The alternating rows look good and hide a few problems with the blocks.
We got a lot accomplished. After a day of sewing, Jack took us to dinner at Charlie's Grill and BBQ. A Kid's cheeseburger basket was just enough food.
